The New Jersey Department of Education has released the 2023-2024 average SAT scores for NJ's public high schools. Last year was the first time that New Jersey high schoolers took the test online.

Statewide, scores fell for the third consecutive year. The NJ average combined SAT score was 1,049, down from the 2022-2023 score of 1,058.

The state average in the reading and writing sections of the test was 530, and the NJ average score in the math section of the test was 519.

Edison Academy Magnet School in Middlesex County had the state's highest average SAT score, 1,530.

A couple of things to keep in mind about these test scores.

These scores are from last school year. That is the latest data on average scores for each high school.

Many colleges were still not mandating that applicants for admission include SAT scores in their application in the 2024-2025 school year.

Many students don't test well on standardized tests. Some students now take classes to score well on these tests. These classes can make a significant difference in their test scores.
