There is a heat advisory in affect for all of South Jersey and it is very important that we take care of ourselves before things get out of hand.

It is important to know the signs because there is a HUGE difference between Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke.

Take a look at the side affects below and how to handle each situation so we can all have a safe summer.

Heat Exhaustion

-Excessive Sweating
-Cool/Pale/Clammy Skin
-Rapid/Weak Pulse
-Muscle Cramps

How To Treat:

-Get to a cooler, air conditioned place
-Drink water if fully conscious
-Take a cool shower or us cold compresses

Heat Stroke

-Throbbing Headache
-No sweating
-Body temperature is above 103 degrees
-Red/hot/dry skin
-Nausea or vomiting
-Rapid/ Strong Pulse
-May lose consciousness

How To Treat:

-Call 9-1-1
-Take immediate action to cool the person until help arrives.
