Surviving cancer is a journey. A long journey.  Sadly, Dan Feltwell, a single dad with a sick kid and a heart of gold has watched this journey play out since his boy Danny was 2-years old.

When I first wrote about Danny Feltwell in January 2012, 3-year-old Danny was already a year in to an aggressive chemotherapy treatment plan to combat T-cell lymphoblastic non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He spent most of his first year fighting the cancer hospitalized due to complications from the chemotherapy.

After hearing Danny's story at Margate's New Year's Day Polar Bear Plunge in 2012, I tracked down his father and developed a friendship and a deep admiration for a man in a really tough situation.

Dan Feltwell is a single parent and Danny’s sole caregiver. Dan had taken a leave of absence from his job to care for Danny. The family has dealt with enormous difficulties, financially and emotionally.

Earlier this year, Danny, 9, was hospitalized again with a relapse of his cancer. During treatments at A.I Dupont Hospital, welcome news finally came.  A bone marrow donor had been found and Danny could move ahead with the complicated process of a bone marrow transplant which would save his life.

One complication. The transplant requires moving temporarily to Delaware to be close for long days spent in the hospital.  Dan Sr, out of work with an injury of his own and now facing additional expenses to be there for Danny, would need a good deal of money the family does not have.

This is where you come in.  Please join me in making a donation to the Go Fund Me page set up to raise $15,000 in support of the Feltwell family.
