Galloway’s Mara Justine Returns to ‘The Voice’
South Jersey's Mara Justine will be back on NBC's The Voice this week. Mara knocked it out of the park during her blind audition with a powerful version of Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", earning a rare four-chair turn from judges.
Mara's performance set off a competition for her between the judges, especially John Legend and former One Direction member Niall Horan.
"They make them different in Jersey," Horan gushed. "Like, someone that's willing to go into the first round with an Elton John song, and sing it like that, takes something. If this is where you've set the bar, what are we going to see from you down the line? America's going to fall in love with that voice."
Be that as it may, Mara Justine chose Team Legend instead.
This week she is back for the Battles round.
In these rounds, the coaches pit two of their team members against each other in a duet, with the winner earning a spot in the Knockouts. The coaches also get two chances to steal singers from other teams, so we will see if the real battle this week on The Voice is for Mara Justine.
The Voice is Mara's third TV reality singing competition.
Mara, 21, advanced to the finals of NBC's America's Got Talent in 2014.
Then, in 2018, 15-year-old Mara competed on Fox-TV's American Idol, where she impressed judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan on her way to a top 14 finish.
Long before that, Mara had already developed a strong South Jersey following while singing on Maury Povitch's television show Maury’s Most Talented Kids at age 9 and belting out Whitney Houston's "The Greatest Love of All" on stage at Sea Isle's Got Talent" as a 10-year-old.
