A fundraiser has been established to help the victim of a hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning that left the Absecon man seriously injured and killed his dog.

The Weekend Crash in Absecon

Syed Hoque, 25, of Absecon, and his dog were hit by a car just after midnight Saturday, Nov. 30,  at the intersection of Highland Boulevard and Marlborough Avenue, Absecon police said in a post on Facebook.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, prompting a 9-1-1 call from a passing motorist. Officers conducted a thorough search of the area and located a vehicle matching the description. A motor vehicle stop was initiated, and officers arrested Byron A. Jones, 52, of Mays Landing.

A GoFundMe Appeal to Help the Man

Syed Hoque has started a GoFundMe campaign to help with expenses and medical bills from this serious crash.

Syed has sustained serious injuries that will require extensive medical treatment, surgeries, and a long road to recovery.
This tragedy has not only caused immense physical pain but has also placed an overwhelming financial burden on Syed and his loved ones. We want to help alleviate some of this burden so that Syed can focus on healing rather than having to worry about his financial situation.

A Situation That Could Happen To Anyone

This is truly heartbreaking.

A young guy was just taking his dog out for a walk one night and the next thing he knew his dog was dead and he was seriously injured and being taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Now he faces the extreme expense of this sad situation. I don't know this man, but it appears he needs financial help and thus the GoFundMe appeal.

A situation like this one could happen to anyone. Maybe we can help him out in his time of need?

As of Wednesday night, over $3700 had been donated toward his goal of $20,000 goal, so he can focus on getting better and not be overwhelmed with the price tag of this injury.
