A forest fire broke out in a remote section of woods in Upper Township late Sunday night, causing thick smoke to blanket Seaville and surrounding areas.

7:30 am Fire Update

Seaville Fire Rescue gave an update at 7:30 am Monday about the fire that started in a remote area of Upper Twp.

There is an active Forrest fire in the Seaville section of the Township. The NJ State Forest Fire Service has been on scene since the early hours of this morning. The fire is contained but is still burning. You may have areas of heavy smoke in the area. We ask that you refrain from calling 911 unless you see fire or dark or black smoke.

 

Seaville Fire Rescue Issues Fire Alert

Shortly after midnight Monday, Seaville Fire Rescue posted a fire alert about an active forest fire and said the NJ State Forest Fire Service was working to extinguish the fire.

As of midnight on the 28th there is an active forest fire in an uninhabited section of woods behind the high power lines and the southern portion of Peach Orchid Rd. Known as Fire Lane.

 

The NJ State Forest Fire Service is actively working to contain and extinguish the fire. There are areas of heavy smoke in the Seaville district. Please only call 911 if you see active fire in the area.

There are reports that other local fire companies, including Ocean City, have responded to give aid to the Seaville Fire Rescue and the State Forest Fire Service.

Complaints of Heavy Smoke Reported

Many people in the Seaville area have commented on the heavy smoke overnight on Facebook.
