Dominic Sessa: The South Jersey Actor On Verge of Stardom
Dominic Sessa, the South Jersey-raised actor who gained fame as a breakout star in the 2023 film The Holdovers, has been in high demand ever since.
Sessa stars alongside Rose Byrne (Bridesmaids, TV's Platonic) in the new drama Tow, which was released in theaters on March 20th.
Sessa also stars as young Anthony Bourdain in the upcoming film Tony, due out in late 2026.
He is one of a handful of upcoming young actors and artists featured in the new Vogue Magazine spread celebrating "The Young Actors and Musicians to Watch Have High Flying Style to Spare".
Dominic Sessa in a Hot Hollywood Property
Tow is the second major film for Sessa since he made his film debut in the Oscar-nominated coming-of-age film The Holdovers, portraying troubled teenager Angus Tully.
The film starred Paul Giamatti and Da'Vine Joy Randolph, who won the Best Supporting Actress for her role in the flick.
In 2025, Sessa took a starring role in Now You See Me 3, the third installment in Lionsgate's magician-heist saga, and filmed the Amazon Christmas movie Oh. What. Fun.
Dominic Sessa is a hot property. The feeling is that the movie Tony will push him into the public eye as a star.
The A24 biopic Tony takes place during the summer of 1976, when a young Anthony Bourdain had a life-changing summer in Provincetown.
Two years later, the 20-year-old Bourdain enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America.
Sessa filmed the movie on location last summer in P-Town, Cape Cod.
He told Vogue he was excited about taking the Anthony Bourdain role because of the freedom it gave him as an actor.
He was drawn to the creative possibilities and relatability of playing Bourdain at an age before he was famous, when he was still a young man just figuring things out. “Nobody’s ever seen 20-year-old Anthony Bourdain on camera,” Sessa says. “From the acting side of it, you have so much more freedom.”
Dominic Sessa Growing Up in South Jersey
23-year-old Dominic Sessa went from growing up in the Ballenger Woods neighborhood of Egg Harbor Township to being one of Variety's "10 Actors to Watch' in almost no time.
Sessa was a student at EHT's Alder Ave. Middle School.
He attended Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts beginning in tenth grade, according to his Wikipedia page, and was given a chance to audition for The Holdovers because the film was using the academy as a shooting location.
