Egg Harbor City, NJ Police Run to Support Special Olympics

Members of the Egg Harbor City Police Department ran on Friday to support the Special Olympics.

The 38th Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run raises donations for Special Olympics.

On Friday, June 11, Sergeant Marcella Aylwin, Detective Rich Brown and other local law enforcement officials, ran a stretch of White Horse Pike for the cause, in spite of damp conditions, to help carry the Special Olympics “Flame of Hope”.

The torch run is a key fundraising initiative that raises not only funds, but awareness for the Special Olympics athletes in our area.

All those who participated represented South Jersey well!

Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organization for kids and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities, providing year-round training and activities to 5 million participants and Unified Sports partners in 172 countries.

The games were put on hold in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the 2021 Summer Sports Finals are coming up with athletes competing in-person and virtually in everything from Gymnastics to Swimming to Track and Field.
