
Jeep Slams 3 Teens in Cumberland Co. Hit & Run, Driver Caught
A 30-year-old man is facing charges of hit-and-run in Cumberland County after he hit three teens on the side of the road with his vehicle and then drove off.
The crash happened on Main Street in Cedarville, Lawrence Township, at about 7 pm Saturday.
Hit-and-Run Driver Hits Three Teens
Eric Rodriguez was driving his Jeep SUV on County Route 533 northbound at about 7 pm when the vehicle veered to the shoulder of the two-lane road and hit three teenage pedestrians.
A State Police statement said that the three teens suffered various injuries.
A 17-year-old suffered serious injuries, a 15-year-old suffered “moderate” injuries, and another 15-year-old suffered minor injuries.
The three were taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries, which weren’t given in the statement.
“After the impact, Rodriguez fled the scene prior to the trooper’s arrival.” Through various investigative means, Rodriguez was identified as the operator of the Jeep and was subsequently arrested.”
Suspect in Crash Lives in Town
State Police said that Rodriguez, who lives in the Cedarville section, was charged with three counts of assault by auto and two counts of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving serious bodily injury.
He was released from jail pending a court date. The investigation was continuing on Sunday, according to the police.
