Brigantine Woman Accused of $109K Theft From Galloway Dentist
An Atlantic County Grand Jury has indicted a Brigantine woman for stealing $109,000 from her job as the office manager at a Galloway orthodontics practice.
Suzanne Conover, 49, of Brigantine was indicted on one count of theft by the Grand Jury on Wednesday after an investigation into theft at Geigerich Orthodontics in Galloway over six years.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says an office assistant at the business found discrepancies in a patient's billing file. The practice then notified police who began an investigation.
Investigators found that Conover, who was the office manager at Geigerich Orthodontics for ten years, was taking cash payments made by patients and then masking the payments in the way she entered it in the ledger.
She would then deposit the cash into her personal account at a local bank during the workday.
This theft amounted to about $109,000 over six years, according to the Procsecutor's release.
