A 49-year-old man was killed in a personal watercraft accident Sunday at a sand quarry in Ocean County.

The Asbury Park Press reports that Salvatore Cusimano was declared dead after divers found his body in a lake at the Sahara Sand Quarry.

State Police were called about 2:30pm when Cusimano was thrown from the watercraft and did not resurface.

According to the Asbury Park Press:

The 1,000-acre Sahara Sand quarry is operated by Silvi, a group of companies that manufacture sand, gravel, concrete and other related materials. A portion of the 2004 remake of The Manchurian Candidate was filmed at the quarry to replicate dessert terrain, according to the Silvi website.
