Oops, Someone at This New Jersey Retailer Missed This
🔴 Major Retailer Ripped for Selling Candles with Label That Looks Like a Hate Symbol
🔴 Company Responds with Apology. Pics of Snow Flakes Resemble KKK Hoods
🔴 Candles pulled from Store Shelves
There's a saying that I often use, "common sense isn't so common."
One example of that may be the person who decided to put a line of candles on the shelves of a major retailer, that sure looks an awful lot like a KKK symbol.
I highly doubt that anyone at Bath and Body Works intentionally tried to convey a message of hate, but it's hard NOT to see the symbolism.
The item in question is called the "Snowed-In" soy wax candle.
As soon as you look at it, you can't help but notice that the snowflake design looks exactly like a string of KKK hoods.
As is typically the case, social media has exploded with comments.
Bath and Body Works released this statement to CNN,
At Bath and Body Works, we are committed to listening to our teams and customers, and committed to fixing any mistakes we make-even those that are unintentional like this one. We apologize to anyone we’ve offended and are swiftly working to have this item removed and are evaluating our process going forward
The Ku Klux Klan is one of the oldest hate groups in America.
Its members would gather in groups clad in white robes and hoods.
Their hatred is typically directed at blacks, Jews, Catholics, and Gays. Their hatred is directed toward anyone they consider not a pure white.
You don't hear as much about the KKK these days, but various organizations put their numbers at about 3000 to 6000 nationwide.
