Back To School Safety Tips

I can't believe that we are ready to start another school year in South Jersey. My wife and I used to make such a big deal on the first day of school for our kids. Now with one son a junior in high school (who was not happy camper this morning) and the other away in college, we didn't even realize today was the big day for Back To School...

The kids will be out in full force in the morning and the afternoon. Keep that in mind while your driving to and from work.

Here are some BTS Saftey tips while driving:

• Slow down and be especially alert in residential neighborhoods and school zones, before and after school hours

• Most kids are injured mid-block, not at intersections, so watch out for kids who may dart into traffic or cross where they shouldn't

• Give pedestrians the right of way at a crosswalk

• Using cell phones, even hands-free, makes it harder for drivers to be alert to walkers who may also be distracted on cell phones. Good idea to stay off the phone especially near a school zone.
