Baby Born at Mile 21.0 North of Garden State Parkway
The coolest thing that ever happened at mile 21 north of the Garden State Parkway took place on Thursday night when a woman who had suddenly gone into labor gave birth in her car on the side of the highway.
She had assistance from Seaville Volunteer Fire Company and Upper Township Emergency Medical Services.
Oh Baby, Woman's In Labor on the Parkway
According to a Facebook post from Seaville Fire Rescue, a call came from a woman in labor in her vehicle on the side of the road at 9:03 pm on Thursday.
The expectant mom, whose name isn't known, wasn't able to drive any further.
Minutes later, help arrived, according to the post.
The Upper Township Emergency Medical Services (Squad 21) and Seaville Volunteer Fire Company (Station 19) were dispatched to mile marker 21.0 northbound on the Garden State Parkway.
The Pregnant Woman Was in Good Hands
Luckily for the mother-to-be, Deputy Chef Allegretto is also a mobile intensive care paramedic specifically trained and certified to handle emergency medical situations.
Once the baby was born and tended to, the mom was put in an ambulance. Some additional care was given to the mother and baby on the scene, but there were no complications.
As of 1:00 am Friday, November 22nd, the mother and baby, Amelia Charlotte, were both doing well.
Amelia starts her life with a story to tell that will be a one-of-a-kind family anecdote for years to come.
