Radio has taken me all over this great country of ours. Before moving back home to Jersey for good, I sampled lots of food in different states and it seems everyone has their own special spin on the classics like disco fries.  Where are the very best ones in New Jersey?  We have the answer!

For example, in Minneapolis, I was served poutine and hot dish, which is their version of cheese fries/disco fries.  Hotdish is more of a meal in itself, with tater tots or french fries, coupled with mashed potatoes and meats and cheese to spruce it up.  If we want a closer comparison, poutine is it.  It is brown gravy on french fries and honestly, a bit bland for my tastes but the Midwest and Canada for that matter is not exactly known for their spice. If you ask residents if ketchup is spicy they will respond with a resounding YES.

In Jersey, every diner has cheese fries, but if you delve into some mom-and-pop restaurants you’ll find a primo version all their own.  A famous foodie website called www.lovefood.com featured cheese fries from around the country and New Jersey's representative was a solid choice. They claim to have served over 80K pounds of fries since they've opened. If you've never indulged in Left Bank Burger Bar you must go. It ain't bad after a few cocktails either, just sayin'.

They have a few options which shows you how seriously they take their fries.  You can get the Disco Fries which are nothing more than mozzarella and brown gravy.

Or, you can order the Jersey Devil Fries with buffalo sauce and blue cheese!

I would post a picture but we ate them too fast. Or Chilltown Fries (my personal favorite on the bottom of this pic above) because they kick up the heat.  They have chili, cheese sauce (I sub the cheese sauce for mozzarella), bacon, and jalapeno!  YUM!
