When I think of "All-American" food I think of burgers, meatloaf with mashed potatoes, steak with baked potato, chicken pot pie, stew, hot dogs, cheese steaks, hoagies/subs, pot roast, etc. These are all fantastic "American" dishes. The kind of food we all grew up on. The pot roast was one of those meals I would say we had once a week and was always a welcome dish. Pot roast with carrots, gravy, and potato. It was a dish Mom had down to a science as a matter of fact, she still owes me a good pot roast dinner lol I better write that down so I don't forget lol I would add my other favorite was meatloaf night, and yes the leftover cold meatloaf sandwiches, wow that's a memory that makes me hungry!

Lovefood recently did an article that listed the best "All American" restaurants in the nation. "America does comfort food like nowhere else. From restaurants serving bowls of flavorsome shrimp and grits and oozy mac 'n' cheese to diners and fast-casual spots that make a mean meatloaf."

Here in New Jersey, we have many great spots to enjoy classic "American" cuisine, from restaurants to diners to little cafes, we have great "American" favorites here in the Garden State. Lovefood selected one eatery as its "top" pick, pun intended. Tops Diner, in East Newark (Harrison), was the place Lovefood highlighted. "Consistently named among the most loved in the country, Tops Diner is a New Jersey icon. Serving absolutely huge portions of all-American classics from the early hours to very late at night, the diner's food is simply faultless. Top menu picks include lobster mac 'n' cheese, French toast, buttermilk pancakes, and chicken and waffles for those brave enough to take on the huge plate."
