
AC Police Find Body While Investigating Rooming House Fire
Atlantic City Police came upon something they weren't expecting while looking into the rooming house fire that happened on Sunday, April 6th.
Police said Monday that they found a body while investigating the fire at 408 N. Ohio Avenue.
The blaze did extensive damage to the upper floors of the 4-story building. The owner of the building told fire and rescue units that night that all the tenants were accounted for.
Atlantic City Police and the Atlantic City Fire Department issued a statement saying they were still investigating the cause of the fire and would not give the identity of the person found at this time.
"Out of deference to the family, we will not disclose the identity of the victim at this time.
The Atlantic City Fire Department, in conjunction with the Atlantic City Police Department, are continuing to actively investigate this fire incident."
Two-Alarm Blaze Displaced 12 People
The call for the rooming house fire came at 7:26 pm on Sunday, April 6th, and the two-alarm blaze took over an hour for firefighters to get under control.
12 residents of the rooming house were displaced.
Monday's statement said more information will be released when the investigation is complete.
