Shopping at brick and mortar stores is thriving here in New Jersey. Even though a record amount was spent online for holiday shopping, these retail stores posted big gains for Christmas and for 2017 in general.

According to the USA Today, online shopping during the holiday season, hit an all-time record with over $108 billion spent. That's more than an increase of over 15% from the previous year.

Believe it or not, there are people who actually still make trips to their favorite local stores. The big winners so far in retail, according to the USA Today are, T.J. Maxx, Home Goods, Marshalls, Dollar Tree, IKEA, and the beauty chain Ulta!

Dollar Tree has over 135 locations in New Jersey, including Absecon, EHT and Somers Point.

Marshalls and Home Goods have 20 locations in the Garden State, including Hammonton Commons in Mays Landing. My wife is addicted to both stores. It seems like we're there almost every weekend. I'll always complain about going but, I usually wind up buying something from myself which of course leaves me with very little to say when she starts to fill up the shopping cart.
