6 DE Teens Commit Home Invasion, Car Theft in Northfield
Northfield Police say six teens from Delaware in a stolen vehicle left the scene of a serious crash before committing a home invasion and stealing another vehicle Saturday morning in Northfield.
Two 16-year-olds were later arrested in the stolen vehicle by Delaware State Police. A search is still underway for the other four teens.
At about 8:45 am Saturday, Sept. 16, Northfield Police were called to the area of Shore Road and Mimi Court to investigate a vehicle crash.
The six teens had run from the scene of the accident, leaving behind a stolen car. The driver of the other vehicle suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
A short time later, Northfield Police were called to the site of a home invasion with a handgun in progress in the 2000 block of Wabash Avenue. The responding police officers saw a Porshe that was stolen during the home invasion leaving the home.
Police gave chase but discontinued the pursuit due to what they called the "extremely dangerous driving of the suspect".
The stolen Porsche was later tracked to an apartment complex in Wilmington, Delaware. Delaware State Police arrested two teens, both 16, and they are facing multiple charges.
A search continues for the four other suspects.
