Three kids taking a joyride in a stolen car early Tuesday were seriously injured when the car they were traveling in crashed into trees near a Cumberland County elementary school.

NBC 10 reports that the three children were thrown from a stolen Kia when the driver lost control, crossed the road and slammed into trees about 5:35 am Tuesday, near Hopewell Crest Elementary School in Hopewell Township.

Kids Ejected After Stolen Car Hits Trees

New Jersey State Police said a juvenile was driving the stolen Kia eastbound on Sewall Road when he lost control and crossed over the center line, "continuing off the edge of the roadway and impacting multiple trees."

NBC10's helicopter took video of a tree trunk split in half from the impact of the crash, which caused the airbags to deploy.

All three children -- described by police as "juveniles" -- were tossed out of the wreckage and "sustained serious injuries," according to NJ State troopers.

The three boys were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Neighbors Complained of Stolen & Damaged Vehicles

A thread on the Hopewell Community Facebook group has a photo of a car with broken windows, and the comment saving it had been stolen between 4-5 am one morning recently.

Several other people left comments commiserating with their own stolen or damaged vehicle stories.

My car broken into again and steering column broken.

I’m sure it was the same people who broke into my dads car the other night
