Winning $1 Million Mega Millions Ticket Sold in Atlantic City

While no one won several hundred million dollars with the Mega Millions drawing Tuesday night, someone who purchased a ticket in Atlantic City won $1 million.

Officials with the New Jersey Lottery say two second-tier prize-winning tickets sold matched five of the five white balls, each worth $1 million.

One of the tickets was sold at the 7-Eleven at 1500 Pacific Ave. in Atlantic City. The other was sold in Somerset County at Lucky Spot Convenience Store in Somerville.

As of Wednesday morning, the Mega Millions jackpot for Friday night's drawing stands at $970 million, which is the second-largest jackpot in the game’s history and the third-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history.

In addition to the two $1 million winning tickets, there were eight third-tier prize-winning tickets sold that matched four of the five white balls and the gold ball winning $10,000. One of those tickets was purchased with the Megaplier option, multiplying the prize to $20,000.

Additionally, 220 players matched four of the five white balls drawn making each ticket worth $500. 27 of those tickets were purchased with the Megaplier option, multiplying the prizes to $1,000.

South Jersey has certainly seen its share of lottery winners lately. Just before Christmas, a winning Powerball ticket worth over $529,000 was sold at ShopRite in Hammonton. On December 26th, a $50,000 Jersey Cash 5 ticket was sold at ShopRite in West Berlin. On December 30th, a winning lottery ticket worth over $270,000 was sold at ShopRite in Rio Grande. Earlier this month, someone won $10,000 playing Mega Millions at a store in Woodbury Heights and a winning $1 million Mega Millions ticket was sold in Camden County.
