A heroic New Jersey teacher will never forget this first day of school after jumping into a moving SUV to save students gathered together before school started for the new year.

According to NJ.com, Valerie Tauriello who teaches health and education at Soehl Middle School in Linden located in Union County who climbed into the SUV to stop it from rolling. Then the vehicle was headed toward the group of students.

The SUV started rolling after a dad who left the car to give his child an iPad that was left behind in the vehicle is also extremely happy, grateful, and relieved by the actions of Valerie Tauriello. The outcome could have been tragic on the first day of a new school year.

Soehl Middle School principal Gwendolyn Long tells NJ.com,

“She did not hesitate to risk her life to save our students,” Long said in the statement. “In a matter of seconds she informed the father of what’s going on, informed the staff to get the kids out of the way, then thought enough to risk her life, because she could have gotten injured.”

The hero teacher was also wearing a protective boot thanks to a previous injury to her ankle but, that didn't stop her from rushing to the SUV to stop it before anyone got hurt.
