Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" topped the weekend box office beating out the much heavily hyped  "Prometheus." The animated movie made over

$60.4 million to land in first place. Prometheus"  the sci fi movie starring Charlize Theron opened in second place with $50 million.
