Get ready astronomy lovers and star gazers as the Leonid meteor shower will peak over the skies of South Jersey starting late tonight into early tomorrow morning  .

According to the website EarthSky, the Leonid meteor shower will be shooting over the skies of South Jersey stating later tonight November, 16th into to the pre dawn hours of Tuesday, November 17th. The peak time for the Leonid shower, when you might be able to see 10 to 15 meteors per hour shoot over the South Jersey skies, will be the dark hours before dawn.

According to CNN.com, the Leonid meteor shower comes from the constellation known as Leo the Lion. The meteors, which could be colorful, also move at a rapid pace clocking in at 44 miles per second. Keep your eyes glued to the sky!

You might want to bring a couple of extra blankets if you planning on watching tonight's meteor show as overnight temps will drop into the mid to upper 30's. Skies will be mainly clear which will be a huge plus for star gazing and spotting meteors.

The best way to watch a meteor shower according to the website Earth Sky is to find a dark spot, find out when peak time will be, make sure you have the right day, know the phases of the moon, dress warmly, bring a thermos of hot chocolate, coffee or tea, bring a comfortable chair or blanket and enjoy the night sky!
