Atlantic City Police say a man was arrested and a loaded handgun was recovered after quick thinking from store employees who were investigating him for shoplifting.

The scene unfolded around 2:00 Tuesday afternoon at the Tommy Hilfiger store in Tanger Outlets in the 2000 block of Atlantic Avenue.

According to authorities, 44-year-old Sultan Jackson of Philadelphia had entered the store earlier in the day and took items into the dressing room. He failed to return those items once he left the dressing room and then left the store. He returned a short time later and employees began to question him about the items. Jackson began to leave again, but stopped and placed an object under a stack of clothing. Employees believed that it was shoplifted items, but instead it was a loaded handgun.

Jackson was detained by store employees and then arrested. Cops say Jackson was also found to be in possession of 13 grams of marijuana.

Jackson was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a high-capacity magazine, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and shoplifting. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
