The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office says they are conducting an investigation of a fatal crash between an Atlantic City police vehicle and a bicyclist that occurred last month.

The victim in the crash has been identified as 63-year-old Everett Stern of Atlantic City.

Officials say a preliminary investigation shows a uniformed ACPD officer was driving a marked patrol vehicle northbound on Arkansas Avenue on the way to a call for service, with no lights or sirens on, when the accident occurred at around 8:30 PM on June 25th at Arkansas and Arctic Avenues.

According to a press release, "Mr. Stern was traveling eastbound on Arctic Avenue when his bicycle struck the driver side of the police vehicle. The officer called for emergency medical personnel and immediately began rendering aid to Mr. Stern. Mr. Stern was taken by ambulance to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center, where he died on June 25."

The AG's office says they're looking into the crash because they are required to do so when any death occurs during an encounter with a law enforcement officer when that officer is acting in an official capacity.

The investigation into the accident continues.

What Not to Do on a Traffic Stop According to a NJ Cop

My husband is a police officer. He is an amazing man who saves lives and upholds the law. He makes me proud every single day.

I know being a police officer can come with a lot of criticism, especially when there are bad eggs that give police officers a bad name. I can assure you that there are many police officers that uphold the law and do not abuse it, and my husband is one of them.

I hear stories when my husband comes home and he tells me that he encounters some crazy people. I feel like it is very simple to not get arrested by a police officer once you're pulled over or have an encounter with a cop. I went right to my hubby and he gave me some tips to share with all of you.
