The Sixers have stopped fining Ben Simmons for missing games and practice after he explained to the team that he was "not mentally ready to play to his expectations," according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne on the NBA Today.

Per Shelburne, the Sixers are taking Simmons’ claim in good faith and have offered him any resources he needs to work through the situation.

Simmons racked up nearly $2 million in fines for missing preseason games, practices, and team meetings.

Before the Sixers played the Thunder on Thursday, President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey, provided an update on the Simmons situation with NBC Sports Philadelphia.

"He spoke to his teammates," Morey explained. "Things seem to be moving very much in a positive direction.  We're going to supply all the resources, and get Ben what he needs and get him out there as soon as we can."

"We're taking it day-by-day getting him what he needs," Morey continued.

As the Sixers get ready to play at Madison Square Garden tonight against the Knicks, Simmons of course will not be there, but we asked South Jersey Sixers fans to describe Ben Simmons in four words or less.

Remember you can listen to the Sixers and Knicks at 7:30 right here on 97.3 ESPN with the voice of the Sixers Tom McGinnis calling all the play-by-play action.
