Why Doesn’t South Jersey Have A Safe Exchange Zone?

The COVID-19 Pandemic has proven to be a time for home improvement, entertainment purchases and more to keep us all occupied.

One option is to purchase everything you want brand new...but let's be real. Who can seriously afford that during a pandemic where a large chunk of residents have already lost their jobs.

The answer: buy things reused!

Purchases on platforms like Craigslist, eBay or Marketplace exchanges are on the rise!

I stumbled upon this post by the Brick police which promotes a Safe Exchange Zone and it peaked my curiosity.

What is this zone exactly?

A Safe Exchange Zone is an area that is usually designated by the town or local law enforcement that is monitored by cameras 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is designed for people to make exchanges safely.

And a lot of them have signs (example in Brick is shown in picture above) so you know that you are in the right place.

But when I started doing some digging, I could not find a single Safe Exchange Zone in Atlantic or Cape May Counties.

So if you could do 1 of 2 things:

1. I may have not found an actual Safe Exchange Zone that exists in South Jersey and if you know of one, please email me at Nicole.Murray@Townsquaremedia.com.

I will write an article on it so everyone can utilize it.

2. If there is truly no Safe Exchange Zone in South Jersey, let's share this article far and wide so we can get the attention of our local law enforcement so one can be made.

The safer everyone is, the better.
