Sad to report the passing of a radio legend over the weekend. Casey Kasem was probably best known for counting backwards every weekend on American Top 40. The legendary DJ began his carer in Flint before becoming an announcer on Armed Forces Radio Korea Network in 1952.

Her began his stint as host of American Top 40 in 1970. The Number 1 song in America on his very first show was "Mamma Told Me Not To Come" by Three Dog Night. He hosted AT 40 until 1988. He alos did a revived version from 1998 until 2004, when Ryan Seacrest took over. "Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars," was how he closed out every program.

I remeber listening to AT 40 with Casey Kasem every Sunday morning as a kid. I couldn't wait to find out what the new numnber one song in America was.

Kasem, was also the voice of  Shaggy on "Scooby-Doo."

Rest in peace Casey.
