His name is Matt Gilmore and this story is nothing short of amazing.

Gilmore was 7 years old when the tragedy of 9/11 occurred and 18 years later, he is still, according to the Instagram Post, "working to honor every rescuer who died and every family who lives in grief."

The 25-year old firefighter, who is one of the several deaf volunteer firefighters in the entire USA, went to Retro Fitness in Tuckerton and used the stair stepper to climb 110 floors -- aka the distance to the top of the World Trade Center.

Gilmore actually started this stair-stepping tribute back in 2016 so that no one can ever forget the pain that we all lived through on that horrid day.

"I want people to remember, to look at me and remember," Gilmore said through an interpreter. "I'm not doing it for me. I'm doing it for them."

Firefighters across the nation actually participate in a very similar stair-stepping tribute and there are even organized events for first responders to do together.

There were no events scheduled near Gilmore so he took it upon himself to go to the gym and do it all on his own.

Matt Gilmore. We will never forget. And that will always partially be because of you.
