Parsippany Man Sentenced 24 Years After Shooting at Federal Agents
Trenton, N.J. — A Parsippany man who opened fire on federal agents executing a search warrant at his home has been sentenced to 24 years in federal prison.
Earlier this week, 44-year-old Maloy Amador was sentenced to 288 months behind bars following his guilty plea to four counts: attempted murder of a federal officer, discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, possession of firearms by a convicted felon, and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.
Shootout During a Search Warrant
According to federal authorities, on August 13th, 2025, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Amador's Parsippany home as part of a narcotics and firearms investigation. When agents entered, Amador opened fire. An extended exchange of gunfire followed before he surrendered and was taken into custody.
Amador was struck in the arm during the shooting.
One officer narrowly avoided serious injury; a bullet struck his agency-issued electronic control device, punching a hole through it, with fragments embedding in his ballistic vest.
A search of the residence turned up more than two kilograms of narcotics and 18 firearms, including multiple assault rifles.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI, DEA, ATF's Newark Field Division, U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Office of Professional Responsibility, New Jersey State Police, Morris County Prosecutor's Office, and the Parsippany-Troy Hills Police Department.
