A gourmet burger restaurant in New Jersey that "puts the fun between the bun" has announced it is closing for good this weekend.

Disturbing trend continues

Sadly, there has been no shortage of restaurant closings across the Garden State to talk about lately.

And while some were a part of big chains, many of them were mom-and-pop eateries and their decision to close was quite painful.

Some of the restaurants that we have lost this year include the following:

  • The Tortilla Press, Collingswood

The Tortilla Press in downtown Collingswood, Camden County, closed its doors for good in June.

“It was a great ride for as long as it lasted,” Cipriani said to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

  • Mystic Islands Casino

After nearly six decades on Mathistown Road in southern Ocean County, the bar and restaurant portion of Mystic Islands Casino closed back in July.

  • Bertucci's

The last location of Bertucci's Italian Restaurant in New Jersey also closed this summer.

While none remain open in the Garden State, you can find a few Bertucci's in the region -- two in the suburbs of Philadelphia and another in Newark, DE.

Its owners recently took to Facebook to share the news:

This journey began as a creative response to the pandemic, become brick and mortar, and the first place I've ever owned, and over time, it's grown into something truly special.

Since opening, my family has grown, I've embarked on the exciting Gass & Main venture, and have faced personal challenges that made me reflect deeply on the future of the business and what that looks like for my family.

This decision didn't come lightly. I want to thank each and every one of you who has made Burgertime, what it is. Your support has meant the world to me since day one.

Gass & Main that the owner speaks of is a cool BYO lunch, brunch, and dinner spot on Ellis Street in Haddonfield.

Meanwhile, as for the burger spot, this Saturday, October 14th, is its final day. Point your GPS to 123 West Merchant Street in Audubon for a terrific burger experience!
