A Deptford Township police officer who was shot in the line of duty nearly two months ago passed away on Sunday.

27-year-old Ofc. Bobby Shisler was shot on the afternoon of March 10th during an interaction with a pedestrian.

Authorities say Ofc. Shisler got into a foot pursuit with 24-year-old Mitchell Negron, Jr., and both were wounded during a struggle.

Negron was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shisler was taken to Cooper Medical Center in Camden where he underwent several surgeries and extensive treatment.

Deptford Police Chief Joseph Smith said in a statement Sunday,

Officer Shisler will always be remembered for his dedication and his commitment to the residents of this great community. We are extremely grateful and thankful for his service. He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

Ofc. Shisler was with the Deptford Township Police Department for four years.
