A man from Hackettstown is now facing a vehicular manslaughter charge in connection to a crash in Warren County this past November.

State troopers say on the afternoon of November 22nd, they responded to an accident at the intersection of County Road 517 and Ridge Road in Allamuchy Township, Warren County.

Based on a preliminary investigation, a Jeep Wrangler was headed eastbound on Ridge Road, a Jeep SUV was traveling northbound on County Road 517, and a Ford Pickup was traveling southbound on County Road 517.

At the intersection, the Wrangler hit the Ford on its passenger side; the Ford was re-directed and impacted the Jeep SUV on its driver's side, according to authorities.

The driver of the Jeep Wrangler and the driver of the Ford sustained serious bodily injuries and were flown to local hospitals.

The driver of the Jeep SUV, 33-year-old Lauren M. Gerhold of Hackettstown sustained fatal injuries.

Charges Filed

Last month, the driver of the Wrangler, 51-year-old Andrzej Szysko of Hackettstown, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Vehicular manslaughter
  • Vehicular homicide
  • 3 counts of assault by auto
  • Death by auto
  • 3 counts of aggravated assault
  • 2 counts of causing injury while driving while suspended

Szysko is currently hospitalized and awaiting transport to the Warren County Jail.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
