For the past year and a half, residents and visitors of Ocean City have had a cool stay-and-play game shop to check out as a way to separate themselves from their phones for a while.

The Board Room, located at 1123 Asbury Avenue in Ocean City, was a unique screen-free spot that allowed people to stop scrolling and start playing board games, meet up, and shop for retail games and puzzles.

A Look Back at Ocean City's Board Game Hub

It allowed you to bring a group in and play over 200 board games, card games, strategy titles, party games, puzzles, and more.

However, the owners, Nick and Lauren Deckard, announced that their time in Ocean City has come to an end, posting on social media on Tuesday.

"After a lot of thought, we’ve made the decision to close The Board Room. What started as an experiment ended up becoming so much more. We met so many amazing people, countless memories were made with families of all ages, and, it’s hard to believe, but we taught over 100 people American Mah Jongg!"

10 Favorite Things about Cape May County, NJ

The history of Cape May County predates the formation of the United States of America by about 100 years as it was one of the first counties established in what was originally known as the West New Jersey Provence. Cape May County's historical records go back as far as 1685 and the County was originally established in 1692. Cape May County has been a huge part of my life and that of my family's for decades, so I wanted to share with you my favorite aspects of the southern most County in the state of New Jersey.
