If you are familiar with the Dead End Bakehouse of Ocean City, people who live on the Mainland are about to see what they are all about.

From Ocean City to Shore Road: A New Chapter

The bakery recently expanded off the island, opening a new spot at 746 Shore Road, which was most recently Somers Cafe.

Somers Point… we’re here We’ve officially been in soft opening mode, and just want to say thank you to everyone who has already stopped by to check out the new space and support us so far!

Somers Cafe announced it was closing back in late October in a social media post, looking for a new location after the building was sold.

We met so many incredible people here, and each of you left a piece of your kindness with us. Somers Café wouldn’t have been the same without your support, your smiles, and the memories we shared over countless cups of coffee.

Though this chapter is coming to an end, the friendships we made will stay with us always. From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for everything, Somers Point❤️

This is the first location outside of Ocean City, with the original spot at 1050 Bay Ave.  The owners, Robert Idell Jr., his wife Jillian Noon, and his parents Bob and Sharon Idell, opened a pop-up site at the site of the former Wonderland Pier last summer.

Looking Ahead: Summer 2026 at Wonderland Pier

According to their website, the Wonderland Pier location will be open for the summer of 2026.

The new Somers Point location recently had a grand opening and will be serving hand-rolled artisan bagels, small-batch baked goods, coffee, and will offer both breakfast and lunch from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Addressing the Parking Situation on Shore Road

One issue that has been a problem in the past for this location has been parking, but Dead End Bakehouse says there is parking at the new Somers Point location right on Shore Road for 15 minutes.

They are located two doors down from Charlie's, and across the street from City Hall and the police station.
