The popular alternative rock band, 10,000 Maniacs, will be performing tonight in Ocean City at the Ocean City Music Pier, at 825 Boardwalk, with doors opening at 6:00 pm and the show starting at 7:00 pm.
Celebrating 45 Years of Hits
The band, which is celebrating 45 years this summer, with thier first ever conecrt happeing on Labor Day weekend in 1981, is in Ocean City to support their 45th Anniversary Tour.
10,000 Maniacs, with lead singer Natalie Merchant, had a ton of hit songs in the late 1980s through the early 1990s, like "Because the Night," "Trouble Me," and "These Are Days", which has become a popular song at high school graduations.
While Merchant helped put the band on the map, she left the band in 1993. Mary Ramsey is now the lead singer of the band, and she will be performing a mix of classic hits and new music.
From Jamestown to the Ocean City Boardwalk
The band is from Jamestown, NY, which is where I just spent the past 10 days at the Babe Ruth World Series. One of the band's members, John Lombardo, performed the National Anthem before the Opening Ceremonies at the stadium.
Tickets for tonight's show are available here, at the Ocean City Music Pier Box Office (cash or check only for in-person purchases), or at Maniacs.com for more information.
