Ahhhh....Halloween. There are kids running about, costumes and candyyyyy!

But just because it is nearly time to celebrate does not mean that safety should go out the window.

Here are a few tips specifically geared towards Halloween so everyone makes it home happy, safe and full of sugar.

1. Use Sidewalks/ Intersections

Do not walk in the middle of the road or cross where drivers may not be expecting. There are thousands of kids that will be out and about for Halloween celebrations so do everything possible to avoid a horrid accident.

2. Only Packaged Candy

Baked goods may be delicious but they are not for Halloween. Anyone who gives you anything that is not professionally packaged unfortunately needs to be thrown out because you have no idea what they could have put in there. It is sad but true.

3. No Masks

Yes, there are quite a few costumes that are completed by including a killer mask...BUT...masks block your vision. It is important to remain aware of your surroundings while out and about on Halloween. If you do decide to wear a mask, make sure you go out with a parent or in a group.

4. Costume Material

Make sure your costume has some type of reflective material if you intend on trick-or-treating until after dark so cars can see you. Plus, make sure your costume's material is flame retardant. There are jack-o-lanterns and who knows what else that could lead to an awful accident.

5. NEVER Enter Anyone's Home

You never know what is waiting for you on the other side of that door. Unfortunately, we live in a world where we are forced to be suspicious and entering someone's home is putting you in the ultimate vulnerable situation that may turn out to be impossible to get out of.

Do you have another safety tip that you think should be included on this list. Let us know so we can add it and others can follow suit!

Everyone have a Happy Halloween!
