Former Phillies third baseman and remember of the popular 1993 Phillies N.L. pennant winning team, Kim Batiste died today. He was 52.

Batiste also played 12 games for the Atlantic City Surf in 2013.

A third-round pick of the Phillies in 1987, he is most known for his game-winning RBI in the 10th inning of Game 1 against the Atlanta Braves. The hit was even more satisfying for Batiste because it was his error in the ninth inning that allowed the Braves to tie the game and force extra innings.

Batiste played four season with the Phillies, hitting .241 with seven home runs, 53 RBIs in 197 games.

After his Phillies career, Batiste went on to play with the San Francisco Giants.

The Phillies put out a statement on the passing of Batiste:

The Phillies are saddened to hear about the passing of Kim Batiste, a member of the 1993 National League champions. Kim will always be remembered in Philadelphia for his 10th-inning base hit to give the Phillies the walk-off win in Game 1 of the 1993 National League Championship Series. The Phillies organization sends its condolences to Kim’s family, friends and teammates.
