1- The Wildwoods Convention Center hosts the Boardwalk Kennel Club's All Breed Dog Show, Sat-Sun. 8:30am-6pm Jan 18-19, with over 150 dog breeds competing  in best of breed competitions, obedience and rally trials, 4-6 month puppy competitions, canine good citizens clinics and more. Tickets can be purchased at the door: $8 for adults; $5 for seniors; $2 for children under 12. For more information call 609.729.9000.

2- Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20 returns to Borgata this weekend with performances Friday, Saturday(sold out) and Sunday at The Music Box for what is becoming an annual tradition. His three concerts in Atlantic City will benefit Thomas’ own Sidewalk Angels Foundation, which is dedicated to providing funds and support to over 20 no-kill animal shelters and animal rescues across the country.

3- The 7th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Read-In takes place this MLK, Jr. Weekend at 1pm Sat. Jan 18 at the Atlantic City Free Public Library in the Atlantic County Atrium, 1 North Avenue, Atlantic City (Next to main library). Guests and library staff will read some of Martin Luther King Jr.'s best work including the "I Have A Dream," "Letter From A Birmingham Jail" and "I've Been to the Mountaintop."  The Atlantic City High School Choir will also be performing at this free, public event. For info, call (609) 345-2269 ext. 3075.

4- Take a musical tour of the early 1900s with the Vintage Jazz Band, during their “From Ragtime to Swingtime” show at the Ocean City Public Library, from 2 to 3:30 pm Sunday, Jan. 19. In between songs, the band will provide a short history or background of the next tune, making for a fun musical presentation. Admission is free. The library is located at 1735 Simpson Ave. For more information, call 609-399-2434.

5-  First lit on Jan. 15,1857, Atlantic City's Absecon Lighthouse’s celebrates its 163rd birthday by offering free climbs 11am to 3:30 pm  Sat, Jan. 18. Absecon Lighthouse,  New Jersey's tallest lighthouse, is at Pacific and Rhode Island avenues in Atlantic City.

Take a journey into time and above it all as you ascend the 228 steps of the Absecon Lighthouse, one of the oldest lighthouses in the country. You'll see breathtaking views of the Atlantic City skyline and up top you'll come face-to-face with the original first-order Fresnel Lens.
