That's all about to change this weekend as we unofficially kick-off the summer season with a grand opening of a brand new hotel in one of America's favorite family resorts according to OCNJ.com.

The newest hotel to open in Ocean City is Impala Suites which is a boutique-style hotel located on the corner of 10th street and Ocean Avenue. Impala Suites sits just a block from the beach and world-famous Ocean City boardwalk. The grand opening is set to take place this Friday.

The new hotel will feature 15 suites which include a kitchen, dining room, and living room, and a pool with views of the Ocean City skyline. Total lodging of the new hotel will come to 45 rooms.

Michele Gillian, executive director of the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce tells OCNJ,

“This really is one of the new jewels of the city that highlights all that Ocean City represents as America’s Greatest Family Resort.”

In other news from Ocean City, unfortunately, we have to wait until 2022 to experience an Ocean City tradition in person as the annual Flower Show will once again be a virtual event thanks to the ongoing concerns 'due to COVID  according to OC NJ Daily.

You can submit photos for this year's Ocen City Flower Show at events@ocnj.us. Photos of home gardens, vegetable gardens, plants, flower arrangements, door wreaths, house plants. A few favorite submissions will be highlighted on the Ocean City Music Pier Facebook page on June 3rd and 4th. The deadline for submissions is June 1st.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
