All of us at Lite Rock 96.9 WFPG were saddened at the news that Delilah, the longtime host of our nighttime love songs show, had suffered a death in her family.  Delilah's son, Sammy, died over the weekend of complications from sickle cell anemia.

Samuel Young Dzolali Rene was one of Delilah's twelve children and one of her eight adopted children.  Delilah, who  has a vocal proponent of adoption, talks often of her children on her... radio show.

In a Facebook posting on Saturday, she expressed concern for Sammy, "I need anyone who reads this to please, please pray for my son Sammy. He has been in the hospital for 10 days now due to his sickle cell anemia, and last night he took a turn for the worst and is now fighting for his life,on life support, in ICU. I know that God is holding him in the palm of His hand, I am praying that He heals him and grants him a long and healthy life...

Sunday, Delilah announced the boy had died. "My son Sammy passed from this world today into heaven, but he left behind a piece of his amazing soul in all that met him. As painful as this moment is, I am so so so so so thankful that God allowed me, my family and friends to experience the essence of his soul for the past two years. Everyone who met him was blessed by his big heart, his silly character voices, his wonderful sense of humor and his kindness towards all. He was a precious, precious young man and I praise the Lord that I was allowed to be bathed in Sammy's love as his "MommaBear"...we have been forever changed by having him in our lives."

Our sincere condolences to our colleague and friend Delilah on the loss of her son, Sammy.

Please leave your thoughts and best wishes for Delilah in the comments section below, and we'll make sure to pass them on to her....
