Mainland pitcher Chase Petty continues to dazzle.

On Wednesday he did it on both the mound and at the plate.

Petty, who hits No. 2 in the Mainland batting order, stepped to the plate in the bottom of the first innings and gave himself all the help he needed, crushing a titanic 2-run home run to give the Mustangs a 2-0 lead.

That would be all the help he needed.

The senior pitcher tossed his second career a no-hitter, striking out 18 Thunderbolts in route to a 3-0 win over Millville to help Mainland improve 4-0 on the season.

The Somers Point resident is likely to hear his name called during the July MLB baseball draft. Earlier this week he was projected to go No. 18 overall to St. Louis in a MLB.com mock draft.

Numerous scouts were in attendance in Linwood for the game, with Petty hitting between 94-99 miles per hour on the radar gun and showed an excellent slider throughout the game.

With the win, Petty improves his record to 2-0 with 31 strikeouts and just one hit allowed in 14 innings pitched this season.
