Atlantic City Police say a man and a woman were arrested Thursday evening after they assaulted and stabbed a man during an altercation.

According to police, officers responded to the first block of North Maryland Avenue for a report of a man stabbed around 7:15 PM. Officers arrived to find a woman in the street screaming for them to stop a man, later identified as 46-year-old Dennis Hilliard of Atlantic City, until a victim could be located. A second woman, 44-year-old Gloria Ginwright of Atlantic City, was also detained after she began to yell at cops for detaining Hilliard.

Officers located the victim, a 58-year-old man from Atlantic City, inside an apartment building. Cops say he had been stabbed and assaulted. The man was taken to ARMC-City for treatment of his injuries.

An investigation revealed Ginwright had stabbed the victim while Hilliard assaulted him. Officers recovered a butcher knife that they say was used in the attack.

Both Hilliard and Ginwright were charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Both were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
