A movie shoot this week has shaken up offseason life in Sea Isle City and Avalon, where an independent film set in a fictional seaside town is being shot through Oct. 30.

EB Films, LLC, the movie company of South Jersey writer, director, and filmmaker E.B. Hughes is shooting scenes in locations including the Townsends Inlet Bridge, and Sea Isle beaches according to Sea Isle News.

The movie is described as a suspense thriller. There is no word yet on the title or the actors involved.

We do know quite a bit about E.B. Hughes, however. Hughes is an Ocean City native who has been writing and directing film projects since graduating from Temple University in the early 90s.

Hughes is best known for the 2019 horror movie Exit 0, which won several independent film awards, including Best Movie and Director at the Tabloid Witch Awards and Best Actor at the NYC Film Festival Awards for actor Gabe Fazio.

Fazio is well known for his work in The Good Nurse and A Star is Born.

Exit 0, filmed at the Doctor's Inn B&B in Cape May Court House and at various Cape May County locations was preceded in 2016 by Turnabout, another locally filmed movie.

After releasing Turnabout, Hughes told an interviewer that he preferred life in Ocean City to the hustle of Hollywood.

Ocean City probably doesn't have a lot to do with the stuff I write. I live in a very quiet, island town where the winter population is only a couple of thousand. I venture into L.A. every now and then, and I did actually live there for a while, but I prefer Ocean City.

A 1997 E.B. Hughes movie, Harsh Light, was shot in Atlantic City.
