Scan Atlantic City is in Ocean City, New Jersey and they are covering a significant number of dead birds, which have been beheaded on dog beach in Egg Harbor Township.

The comments on the Scan Atlantic City Facebook Page are beyond wild.

The comments range from so-called rituals, to other birds of prey, who routinely eat only the heads and leave or drop the bodies of birds.

Some of the comments are so over-the-top, that we will not share them here.

A comment that we will share is a comment that was posted by Atlantic City Councilman George Tibbitt, who wrote:

”It's the eagles and hawks and osprey's I used to find them on the casino roofs all the time. There is a family of eagles on lakes bay,” wrote Tibbitt.

In Egg Harbor Township, my wife and I have found headless birds in our backyard years ago. Hawks do the same thing … they take the head and leave or drop the bodies.

AtlanticCity911 posted the following comments, along with these two photos:

Anyone ever hear of any bizarre rituals happening at the dog beach at night? We are here now and there are about 16 to 20 beheaded dead birds, mostly chickens.Definitely some strange crap going down here, wrote AtlanticCity911.

Lori Schneider wrote on Scan Atlantic City, “We had that a couple of years ago it's disgusting.”

Charles Thomas Draper, “I was walking my dog on the bay side in west AC and saw a large plastic bag with flies all around it with what looked to be a pink flesh color. I called the police and they came. It was a huge pigs head. My question is why would it be there?”

Andrew Halbruner, “That's strange. Because how the hell did all those chickens get there?? 16-20 chickens don't just show up on the beech. Very weird.”

ChrissyMarie Williams, “Out here owls eat the heads off of birds and chickens it could be as simple as that however they don't take the bodies anywhere they just kill eat on property then leave the bodies. So l'm not sure how the bodies all got there.”

My instincts default to, this is nature at work and not rituals.

We will update this as more information becomes available.
