About Gary U.S. Bonds, Don Hurley offered this gem of a comment:
“Gary US Bonds is a force of nature. His energy and the high level of his performance are extraordinary at age 85. It's amazing to watch him. He began his career in the 1950's and he is still going strong. One of the true pioneers of Rock & Roll is still wowing audiences. It's a privilege to see him perform each and every time he takes the stage," said Don Hurley.
Hoagland shared some additional pivotal background information about Bonds:
Gary came roaring out of Norfolk, Virginia in 1960 with the relentless recording, "New Orleans." Attention was brought to the record by having promotional copies sent to radio stations in sleeves inscribed "Buy U.S. Bonds" - hence at age 19, Gary Anderson became Gary U.S. Bonds. The follow-up was the now legendary 'party' record, "Quarter to Three," a number-one hit with a spirit and energy that would eventually inspire and influence a generation. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame lists "Quarter to Three" as one of the 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. Over the next three years, Gary co-wrote and recorded hit after good-time hit; "School is Out," "School is In," "Dear Lady Twist," "Twist, Twist Senora," "Seven Day Weekend" and others. He has performed throughout the world, rising to a status so high that on a 1963 tour of Europe, he headlined above a group of relative newcomers... The Beatles.
