La’Quetta Small previously filed a motion before New Jersey Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury to sever her trial from her husband, Marty Small.

Judge DeLury granted her motion, which means that she will have a separate trial, away from her husband.

The separate trial is likely to her benefit, as her husband faces a significant number of criminal charges… While she only faces the one second-degree child endangerment charge.

Next Atlantic City Superintendent Of Public Schools?

If La’Quetta Small is convicted, who will be the next Atlantic City Superintendent?

Back in April, 2022, the Atlantic City Board of Education hired former Superintendent Mark Harris as a "Substitute Administrator" at their regular meeting held on April 12, 2022.

Harris was hired to serve as fill-in Superintendent when Small was away from the district.

About Mark Harris

Harris was Atlantic City Superintendent of the Atlantic City Public Schools, from 1992 to 1996,

If La’Quetta Small is removed as Superintendent, Harris could step right in do the job for an interim period.

The Atlantic City Board of Education had previously hired Harris to be La’Quetta Smalls’ substitute superintendent.

An Atlantic City Board of Education Member confirmed that there was no other staff member employed who was qualified to be "Substitute Superintendent" in the absence of Small.

Harris' rate of pay was $ 650 per-day, when he served in that position. It’s the established going rate for this position.
