Atlantic County, NJ Executive & Prosecutor Exchange Blistering Letters
We have learned that Atlantic County, New Jersey Executive Dennis Levinson previously sent a letter to Atlantic County Prosecutor Will Reynolds before Christmas, 2025.
The Contents Of Levinson’s First Letter To Reynolds
I do not have a copy of the letter … but, I have requested a copy of the letter.
However, Levinson has publicly disclosed much of the contents of his letter.
Levinson Urged Reynolds To Drop The Criminal Case Against La’Quetta Small
Levinson believed that he was doing Reynolds a favor … that by dropping the case before Christmas, it would have been a magnanimous gesture, and Reynolds could have eased his humiliating defeat. It was a win-win for the Small's and for his (Reynolds’) reputation … this was the rationale behind Levinson writing his letter of recommendation to Reynolds.
It is the same position that I publicly announced prior to Levinson. Levinson is right about this. Here is my take on this matter from December 18, 2025, and, a follow-up that I did on January 9, 2026 (below).

Levinson Has Witnessed Bad & Expensive Decisions Just Like This In The Past
As the Chief Atlantic County Officer, Levinson is bracing for what will surely be a massive lawsuit from Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small.
Levinson well remembers a bad prosecution (years ago) that ultimately cost the taxpayers $ 4 1/2 million dollars. It was totally avoidable.
Reynolds’ Letter To Levinson
I also do not have a copy of this letter, but, I have requested a copy from Levinson.
However, I have confirmed that the thrust of Reynolds’ letter was to remind Levinson that he (Reynolds) is a constitutional officer and that Levinson has overstepped his boundaries.
I strongly disagree with Reynolds’ assertion. Levinson is responsible to all taxpayers of Atlantic County. It’s his job to protect their interests and not Reynolds’ bruised ego regarding The Small’s.
Marty Small, Ed Jacobs, Lou Barbone and Jordan Barbone cleaned Reynolds’ clock. That’s just the way it is.
Reynolds Has Also Written The State of New Jersey
That he does not want the Atlantic County attorney to represent his office and has sent his demand for a special council to exclusively represent his office.
This is wrong and the move will add more unnecessary taxpayer dollars to be spent on this matter.
This is another bad decision on top of the previous bad decision by Reynolds.
Until the Marty Small, La’Quetta Small and Constance Days Chapman cases … Reynolds had amassed an impeccable record as Atlantic County Prosecutor.
There is A Famous Expression
"Pride comes before a fall"
The expression serves as a warning that if you lead a life that it is full of hubris at accomplishments … you will eventually experience a fall from grace.
Now is the time for Reynolds to cut his losses, regarding Marty and La’Quetta Small.
NOTE: I will provide a follow-up upon receiving copies of the 3 Levinson—Reynolds letters.
