Atlantic City Mayor Waited To Share Bad News

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small waited until June 24, 2025 to deliver the bad news to current and retired Atlantic City employees.

They now face a big increase in their contribution to health care benefits.

Employees and retired employees are not happy. We have spoken to several, who felt that the 12 percent increase … which takes effect in less than 1 week should have been shared with them much sooner.

What Did The Mayor Know … And, when did he know it?

Past City of Atlantic City Problems

In recent years, the City of Atlantic City has had repeated problems regarding proper communication with its employees and their medical health benefits.

One example is a few years ago when the City of Atlantic City did not properly charge its employees for their medical health benefits.

This left the current and retired employees with hefty bills due.

Marty Small and his wife (La’Quetta Small) are criminally charged with:

Marty Small, Sr., 50, and his wife, La Quetta Small, 47, of Atlantic City, NJ were both indicted for second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Marty Small, Sr. was also indicted for third-degree Terroristic Threats, and third-degree Aggravated Assault. It is alleged that during the months of December 2023 and January 2024, the defendants physically and emotionally abused their 15/16-year-old-daughter on multiple occasions. During one incident, on January 13, 2024, Marty Small, Sr. is alleged to have hit his daughter multiple times in the head with a broom causing her to lose consciousness, said the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
